What WoW-Twinks keeps about you, who can see it, and how to take it all down. Short, because we keep little.

Who runs it

  • WoW-Twinks is a non-commercial fan site run by a private individual, who is responsible for your data here. Write to contact@wow-twinks.com about anything on this page.
  • You need to be at least 14 to create an account.
02

What we keep, and why

  • Your account: the name you pick, your class and faction, and how you sign in (Discord, Google, Battle.net or an email link). From the provider we keep its account id and, if it has verified one, your email address. We need these to give you an account.
  • What you write and add: guides and drafts, comments, forum posts, guestbook signatures, your profile, characters and screenshots. Screenshots are redrawn when uploaded, so their camera and location data are never stored. This is the service you sign up for.
  • What you mark: favourites, useful and helpful marks, and who you follow.
  • When you were last around (at most once an hour), unless you turn off “Show when I'm online” in Settings.
  • To keep the site safe, requests are counted per account, or briefly per network address (and sign-in link requests per email address), to stop abuse. That is our legitimate interest in protecting the site and its members; nothing about what you read is kept.
03

Who sees it

  • Your email address: only you. It is never shown to anyone, shared or sold.
  • Your Discord name and BattleTag, if you add them: signed-in members only.
  • Everything you post, your profile, and your characters and screenshots (unless you hide them in Settings): everyone. Your favourites, marks and who you follow: only you.
04

How long it stays

  • Your account and what you add stay until you delete them or the account.
  • Sign-in links work for 15 minutes; abuse counters last from minutes to a day; “online” fades 11 minutes after your last visit.
  • Database backups keep deleted data for a short while before it is gone for good.
05

Cookies and storage

  • A sign-in cookie, while you're signed in (30 days at most), and one that remembers the last game you opened. While you sign in, a few short-lived security cookies guard the sign-in itself. All of them are needed for the site to work; nothing else is set.
  • Your browser also keeps a few conveniences for you alone: which feed items you've opened, whether you were signed in before, and the guide editor's copy of item details from Wowhead.
  • No ads, no analytics and no tracking. Item tooltips and icons are fetched from Wowhead, so your browser contacts Wowhead when you open a guide.
06

Services we use

  • A few providers run parts of the site for us: hosting and storage, the database, sign-in emails, and protection against abuse. They handle your data only to do that for us, never for their own purposes.
  • Some of them are companies based in the United States. Our data is kept in the EU (Frankfurt) where they offer it, and any transfer outside the EU is covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the EU's standard contractual clauses.
07

Your rights

  • You can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, take it elsewhere, or object to how it is used: write to contact@wow-twinks.com. Most of it you can change or delete yourself in your profile and Settings.
  • If you think we got something wrong, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live, though we'd like to hear from you first.
08

Leaving

  • Settings → Delete account removes your account, profile, characters, screenshots, drafts, marks and follows at once.
  • Guides you published stay up, credited to “a departed player”, because people link to them. Your comments, posts and signatures stay too, signed “[deleted]”. Remove any of them yourself first if you want them gone, or ask us.
