Blood Fury — Short cooldown, large burst window. The best Rogue racial here.
Hardiness — Passive stun resistance — always on, nothing to forget.
Berserking — Attack speed when things are going badly.
Regeneration — Real survivability, better paired with a regen buff.
Will of the Forsaken — One of the best PvP racials in the game for a CC target.
Shadow Resistance — Blunts Priests and Warlocks.
Cannibalize — A weak free bandage — usable in stealth.
Stoneform — Counters bleeds from Rogue, Warrior and Hunter, and adds armour briefly.
Frost Resistance — Useful against Frost Mages, little else.
Find Treasure — Twinking is expensive; every edge helps.
Escape Artist — Counters the CC of four other classes.
Engineering Specialization — Access to gadgets other races can't reach yet.
Perception — Spot other Rogues and Druids while they can't spot you.
Sword Specialization — Passive hit chance if you run swords.
Quickness — Flat dodge increase.
Shadowmeld — No cooldown share with Stealth — restealth instantly, and eat or drink safely.
Rocket boots, the Mind Control Cap and bombs are a twink's best tools at 39.
Probably the best second profession if no other character supports your twink.
Makes most of the consumables below, if someone supplies the herbs.
Crafts the Red Mageweave Pants and Black Mageweave Gloves in this list.
First Aid — Max it out so you can use Heavy Runecloth Bandages, which nearly fill your health.
Cooking — Spider Sausage gives the best Well Fed bonus at this level.
Fishing — Not needed for any piece here; it only makes gold.
Built for control and burst on frozen targets: Shatter, Ice Shards and Frostbite, plus Ice Block and Cold Snap. Two points in Elemental Precision reach the spell hit cap that matters in PvP.
Raw damage instead of control: Ignite and Critical Mass for big critical hits, Improved Scorch, Pyroblast and Blast Wave for area damage and a knock-back slow.
One battle elixir at a time.
One guardian elixir at a time.
One potion per fight; they share a cooldown.
At 39 the Frost Mage decides how a fight moves: Frostbolt slows, Frost Nova freezes, Cone of Cold and Blizzard keep groups crawling, and Shatter turns every frozen target into a big critical strike. A Fire build is the alternative for players who prefer raw damage and Blast Wave.
Most pieces are world drops with a random suffix (look for of Frozen Wrath, Fiery Wrath or the Eagle), dungeon drops from Scarlet Monastery and Razorfen Downs, or honor vendor items. The Auction House is the fastest route for the suffix items.

#showtooltip Frost Nova /stopcasting /cast Frost Nova
| Situation | Cast | Why |
|---|---|---|
| An enemy at range | Frostbolt | Damage and a slow. |
| Melee reaches you | Frost Nova, then Blink | Freeze them and get out of reach. |
| A frozen target | Frostbolt or Fire Blast | Shatter makes frozen targets easy to crit. |
| A second attacker | Polymorph | Takes them out of the fight. |
| An enemy casts a big spell | Counterspell | Locks that school of magic for a while. |
| About to die | Ice Block | Immune for a short time; then reset the fight. |
Your value is crowd control, not raw damage. Frostbolt freely, look for chances to Polymorph and Frost Nova, and keep enemies off balance so your teammates can finish them.
Ice Armor when you are being hit, Mage Armor when you need mana. Switch as the fight changes.
