Blood Fury — Short cooldown, large burst window. The best Rogue racial here.
Hardiness — Passive stun resistance — always on, nothing to forget.
Berserking — Attack speed when things are going badly.
Regeneration — Real survivability, better paired with a regen buff.
Will of the Forsaken — One of the best PvP racials in the game for a CC target.
Shadow Resistance — Blunts Priests and Warlocks.
Cannibalize — A weak free bandage — usable in stealth.
Stoneform — Counters bleeds from Rogue, Warrior and Hunter, and adds armour briefly.
Frost Resistance — Useful against Frost Mages, little else.
Find Treasure — Twinking is expensive; every edge helps.
Escape Artist — Counters the CC of four other classes.
Engineering Specialization — Access to gadgets other races can't reach yet.
Perception — Spot other Rogues and Druids while they can't spot you.
Sword Specialization — Passive hit chance if you run swords.
Quickness — Flat dodge increase.
Shadowmeld — No cooldown share with Stealth — restealth instantly, and eat or drink safely.
A must for any twink: rocket boots, the rocket helmet, the Major Recombobulator against Polymorph and jumper cables to raise allies.
The best second profession if no other character supports your twink.
Your own potions and elixirs, if someone supplies the herbs.
Only Mining to feed your Engineering.
First Aid — Max it out for Heavy Runecloth Bandages.
Cooking — Spider Sausage gives the best Well Fed bonus at this level.
Fishing — Gold only at this level.
Maximum ranged damage: Aimed Shot, Mortal Shots and Lethal Shots for big critical hits, with Scatter Shot and Improved Concussive Shot for control.
Crowd control and staying power: Entrapment roots anyone who walks through your Frost Trap, plus Deterrence, Counterattack and Lightning Reflexes for Agility.
One battle elixir at a time.
One guardian elixir at a time.
One potion per fight; they share a cooldown.
At 39 the Hunter has Aimed Shot, Scatter Shot, Freezing and Frost Traps, Feign Death and a pet that can match most players. Marksmanship pushes ranged damage as far as it goes; Survival trades some of it for traps, Deterrence and crowd control that rule a capture-the-flag defence.
Agility first, then Stamina. Several pieces are very rare world drops; the honor vendors and Razorfen Downs fill the gaps, and suffix items (of the Monkey) are faster to buy than to farm.

| Situation | Use | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Opening on a target | Aimed Shot | Your biggest hit, best from range before they react. |
| Someone charges you | Scatter Shot, then Disengage or step back | A short disorient that buys distance. |
| Melee won't leave you | Freezing Trap or Deterrence | Freeze them, or make yourself hard to hit. |
| Defending the flag | Frost Trap and Flare | Slows the attackers and reveals stealthed Rogues. |
| A caster | Viper Sting | Drains their mana. |
Stay at range, open with Aimed Shot, keep Serpent Sting up and finish with Arcane and Multi-Shot. Scatter Shot and Improved Concussive Shot keep melee off you.
On defence in Warsong Gulch, lay Frost Traps at choke points so Entrapment roots whoever runs through, and Flare the tunnel for Rogues.
