Priests have more dedicated healing than any other class at this level, and their heals are large for what they cost. The whole guide is built around that:…
Blood Fury — Short cooldown, large burst window. The best Rogue racial here.
Hardiness — Passive stun resistance — always on, nothing to forget.
Berserking — Attack speed when things are going badly.
Regeneration — Real survivability, better paired with a regen buff.
Will of the Forsaken — One of the best PvP racials in the game for a CC target.
Shadow Resistance — Blunts Priests and Warlocks.
Cannibalize — A weak free bandage — usable in stealth.
Stoneform — Counters bleeds from Rogue, Warrior and Hunter, and adds armour briefly.
Frost Resistance — Useful against Frost Mages, little else.
Find Treasure — Twinking is expensive; every edge helps.
Escape Artist — Counters the CC of four other classes.
Engineering Specialization — Access to gadgets other races can't reach yet.
Perception — Spot other Rogues and Druids while they can't spot you.
Sword Specialization — Passive hit chance if you run swords.
Quickness — Flat dodge increase.
Shadowmeld — No cooldown share with Stealth — restealth instantly, and eat or drink safely.
The one profession a twink needs. It gives you gadgets and combat items before level 20, and it builds decent head pieces.
Gives you a use for green items and lets you enchant your own gear, if your main pays for the materials.
Cheap Healing and Mana Potions and elixirs, as long as someone supplies the herbs.
None of the best-in-slot gear comes from it, so it is less useful than Alchemy or Enchanting.
Only worth it to supply Engineering with metal; otherwise another character should fund you.
First Aid — A heal for yourself when you run out of mana and potions. Get your skill to 225 for Mageweave bandages.
Fishing — The only way to get the Lucky Fishing Hat and Nat Pagle's boots, two best-in-slot pieces.
Cooking — Only worth it for the Well Fed bonus. Buy the Curiously Tasty Omelet or learn its recipe.
The standard healer build. Healing Focus protects your casts, Improved Renew makes Renew stronger, and Divine Fury speeds up Heal, the spell you will use most.
A more balanced build for a priest who also wants to deal damage. Wand Specialization boosts your wand, and you rely on instant spells: Renew, Shadow Word: Pain and Dispel Magic.
Blackout gives your damage spells a chance to stun, which adds crowd control to a Holy base. Good if you want something extra to stop a charging enemy.
Only the guardian elixirs help a priest at this level. They vanish when you die.
One potion per fight; they share a cooldown.
Priests have more dedicated healing than any other class at this level, and their heals are large for what they cost. The whole guide is built around that: Intellect and healing bonuses on every slot, plus the tools to stay alive while your team does the fighting.
Several slots are rare world drops, quest rewards that need a friend, or items you can only get from a fishing contest. Plan for a group of allies who will help you get them; Priests rarely go short of friends. The alternatives under each slot keep you playable until the best piece drops.
#showtooltip Heal /cast [target=player] Heal
#showtooltip Power Word: Shield /cast [target=player] Power Word: Shield /cast [target=player] Renew
| Situation | Cast | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A teammate is lightly hurt | Renew | Cheap, and it ticks while they keep moving. |
| Mid-fight, no emergency | Lesser Heal | A decent heal that spares your mana. Keep ranks 1 and 2 on the bar. |
| Someone is about to die | Heal | Your biggest heal, and with Divine Fury it is the best burst. |
| A caster is about to finish a big spell | Power Word: Shield | Gives them the time to finish it. |
| Several enemies on you | Psychic Scream | Fears everyone nearby so you can heal or leave. |
| Enemy debuff or buff | Dispel Magic | Strips what makes them dangerous and wastes their mana. |
Your job is to keep the team alive and not die yourself. If it goes badly, Psychic Scream, a Swiftness Potion and a retreat are better than a wiped group. You can always resurrect them afterwards.
Use the smaller heals early and keep Heal for the moment it matters. Having several ranks on separate buttons lets you pick the cheapest heal that still works.
When an enemy is nearly dead, Mind Blast and Smite can end it before they drink a potion. Shadow Word: Pain at the start supports a melee teammate.
